South Texas Deer Hunts
I really like a handy walnut stocked Marlin 1894 for hunting under 200 yards. My Dad’s dear caliber for the average hunter I would say the 30-40 Krag for best caliber and the 257 Winchester Magnum for the best cartridge. My most choice rifle is everything made by Marlin.
Ramiro got his Marlin last fall at Target in Anaheim. My friend (Ramiro) said his number one caliber is the 30-40 Krag he got at a RMEF banquet last season.

My most darling rifle is everything made by Winchester. My brother’s prized gun is a Winchester Model 1885 with a 300 WSM barrel. I got my Winchester in the hunting section at Gart Sports in Englewood, Ohio.
My Mother got her 300 WSM online at Bass Pro Shops. One drawback is that adding a laminated stock does increase the weight of the Winchester. I got my Winchester Model 1885 in the hunting section at Dick’s Sporting Goods in Englewood. I got my Winchester 300 WSM at the Target in Englewood. My friends and I like the 5.7 x 28 mm best for rabbit hunting.

The best caliber has been a 7mm WSM, and it still is. My Dad’s choice caliber for whitetail and larger game is 7mm WSM and the best all around caliber for small and medium game is 204 Ruger.
